Vitality 10,000 London

Bank Holiday, Very hot; probably not ideal for a 10K run. But it was great. It started in The Mall, through Trafalgar Square, along the Strand (where we saw Mo Farah and the other elite athletes on their way to the finish) and headed for The City. Amazing to run along traffic free streets past all the buildings and landmarks I associate with business. Cheapside has never looked better!

On the way back, we turned left into Whitehall from Trafalgar Square, then right at Parliament Square and along Birdcage Walk to finish at Buckingham Palace.Truth to tell my legs were a bit wobbly by then. I was a bit disappointed with my time. But it wasn’t for lack of trying; my heart rate monitor showed I averaged 98% of my maximum . Anyway I felt better when I saw the results. I was 6289th out of about 17,000 runners which means I beat about 10,000. Not bad as most of them were less than half my age!

Congratulations to Vitality for the flawless organisation!
