About Malcolm

Malcolm Kerr - Independent Consultant

Malcolm Kerr worked in the long-term savings, investment and protection markets for nearly 50 years.

Senior roles included Managing Director Julian Gibbs Associates – a leading personal financial advisory business, Sales and Marketing Director Albany Life, Vice President Strategic Research Group MetLife (USA), Main Board Director MetLife UK, and Executive Chairman Canada Life International.

In 1998 Malcolm left the Industry and joined KPMG Consulting as a Director and moved to EY (Ernst & Young) as an Executive Director two years later Over the following ten years he worked on over 100 engagements. Clients included all of the top ten life companies plus many others, leading asset managers, wealth managers, retail and private banks, platforms, networks, service providers and large intermediaries.

In 2014, Malcolm “retired” from EY but was retained for four years as a (very!) part time “Senior Adviser” focusing on areas where his formidable experience, technical content and network could best add value to clients, colleagues and the firm. In March 2017 he was appointed as a non-executive Director of Fairstone Capital and finally retired in 2020.

Malcolm has now written three novels under his friends and family name “Calum Kerr”. His first, "Dirty Money Terrible People" was published in 2020 and has received wonderful reviews. It is based on a global accountancy firm, sex, drugs, violence and money laundering. (Always best to write about something you know a little about!) The sequel: "Terrible Brothers" was published in 2021 and his third novel "Terrible Choices" in 2022. His forth “A Terrible Man?” is work in progress.
