Enjoyable lunch
I had a most enjoyable lunch with Justin Cash – Editor, Money Marketing – on November 30th. Enjoyable, as we went to Zedel which is always good value. And enjoyable because he paid!
It’s an interesting time in the financial adviser space. I’ve never seen as much merger and acquisition activity across the whole market; small firms and large ones. Sanlam, Quilter, AFH and others are getting out the cheque books. And at Fairstone Group, where I am a Non Executive Director, we are very pleased with the way our proposition is resonating with Chartered IFAs and others. The big story for Justin was the sale of True Potential. He seemed very well informed. Another big story was Centaur’s proposed sale of Money Marketing and, possibly, other titles. He seemed to know less about that. Or more likely, he knew more than he was saying.
The only thing that spoiled my day was an advertisement for Nutmeg on the tube. It featured “People Like You” And there was a photo of an attractive woman – maybe in her twenties That’s fine but not exactly inclusive. Why don’t they want my money?
