A pleasant surprise!
When we were renewing our home and contents insurance recently we were asked to get a valuation for one of our pictures. It was a limited-edition Roy Lichtenstein print that we bought 25 years ago and it hadn’t been valued since. So, we took it along to Bonhams’ “reassuringly expensive” building in London’s Bond Street. And to cut a long story short it was auctioned for approaching twenty time the price we paid for it.
We were sad to see the print leave our wall but not for long. Bonhams were kind enough to provide a reproduction. Apart from the fact there is no printers’ “blind stamp” (which by definition is invisible to the naked eye) it is identical. And it is now framed with the identical frame and back on the wall!!
